The 37th International Music Festival of The Canary Islands
Jun 24 – Aug 1 all-day

The thirty-seventh edition of what is considered the most important musical event in the Canary Islands will offer a program made up of a total of 44 concerts in about twenty stages of the 8 islands that feature outstanding groups, conductors and soloists. It will be an intense month of concerts that will last until August 1, with which the Archipelago inaugurates the most powerful cultural summer in its history, also coinciding on dates with the International Canarias Jazz & Mas Festival. The capacity of the concerts remains at the same percentage in all the programmed spaces following the corresponding prevention protocols.

The 37th edition of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands, which will take place, for the first time, during  summer. July 2021 marks more than 36 years when the first edition of the Canary Islands International Music Festival (FIMC) was inaugurated. That January 11th, 1985 would be a key date for music in our islands: from that day on, the Canaries were able to enjoy world-class orchestras, conductors and soloists, which otherwise would be very difficult for them to pass through the Archipelago. And this meant, therefore, placing the Canary Islands on the international map of classical music, with a highly prestigious cultural event.

The 2021 Music Festival will include performers and music by: Gustavo Dudamel, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Grigory Sokolov, Thomas Hampson, Fabio Luisi, Basel Chamber Orchestra, Ivo Pogorelich, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of Baviera, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, René Jacobs, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Ivan Fischer, Javier Perianes, Trío Arriaga, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Pedro Halffter, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Ainur Chamber Choir, a stellar cast of singers of international stature for the Opera Cosi Fan Tutte, an arrangement of the Carnival of the Animals and Abubukaka ( a humor theatre ), as well as some incorporation or programmatic innovation that you can discover for yourself.

You can see the full program and buy tickets to the concerts and performances in the Canary Islands HERE!

Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más
Jul 1 – Jul 25 all-day

The 30th edition of the International Canarias Jazz & Más Festival will be a celebration. Between July 1 and 25 , it will tour the eight islands with more than 50 concerts and more than 30 international, national and local musical projects , which complete one of the most ambitious posters in its history and with the Government of the Canary Islands as the main sponsor.

The festival completes its line-up with some leading classical and emerging figures, such as the pianist Fred Hersch , in a trio format; the marvelous voice of Liv Warfield ; the virtuosity on the guitar of Julian Lage ; and the carefreeness of a good number of bands that this year share that leg called ‘& Mas’ and that always offers projects related to jazz, such as soul or funk, and in which José James and his stylistic wealth based of neo soul, hip hop and drum ‘n bass; the large group that gathers around the Brooklyn Funk Essentials ; the Latin rhythms edged with soul and funk of the Cubans Cimafunk ; the soul garage of The Buttshakers ; or the always surprising miscegenation of Latin jazz with which Patax arranges songs by great artists, this time they arrive with the Beatles’ repertoire totally twisted.
