Exhibition : ‘From Maspalomas to the Moon’ – Faro de Maspalomas

The Department of Culture of the City of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has prepared, in collaboration with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, a program of activities, free and open to the public, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing and remember the visit made by astronauts from Apollo11 ​​to Maspalomas, in 1969.

The program will begin on Thursday, November 28, with the opening ceremony, at 18:30, of the Exhibition ‘From Maspalomas to the Moon’, which will be installed inside the Maspalomas Lighthouse, until January 30, 2020

Faro de Maspalomas. The Exhibition is open for public Monday to Sunday, from 10:30 to 17:00, until January 30, 2020.

The International Music Festival of the Canary Islands

With 35 years of history, the Canary Islands Music Festival has positioned itself as an international reference in the world of classical music festivals, both for its high artistic quality, and for the peculiar characteristic of being the first event that inaugurates the activity musical in Europe as it takes place in the months of January and February. It becomes, thus, the only one of its kind that takes place in winter, but a winter that – in relation to the rest of Europe and thanks to the climatic benefits of the Canary Islands – is really a pleasant spring.

The 36th edition’s program follows the line of recent years: the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, Orchestra of Paris, Symphony of the Frankfurt Radio, Danish National Symphony, Philharmonic of Gran Canaria, Tenerife Symphony, Mitsuko Uchida, Pinchas Zukerman, Volodos, Queyras, Eschenbach, Mena, Orozco-Estrada … among other extraordinary musicians, passing between January and February through the islands.

A festival full of cultural activities to value the important cultural heritage of Gáldar.

The Agricultural and Livestock Market of Arucas began to develop in June 2008, at the initiative of the Coag (Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Cattle Ranchers) and the Federation of Cattlemen of Gran Canaria (Fedegran), later moving to the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, an institution in charge of  of the current market.

This market takes place every fortnight in the facilities of the Cabildo Agricultural Farm, located next to the detour to Arucas from GC-2, on the north coast of Gran Canaria. Click here to the map location.  The market comprises some 65 exhibitors (farmers and ranchers) who market their products directly to the consumer, with the aim of lowering the costs. The 20th of January is the main day of festivities in honour of San Sebastian in the municipality of Agüimes. It is also a local bank holiday in the municipality,

On Monday, there is a livestock exhibition fair, sample of native dogs, children’s workshops, etc. in Plaza Teatro Auditorio Agüimes between 8:00 to 13:00.

At 11.30, Solemn Eucharist at the church. Then, procession with the images of San Sebastián and Our Lady of the Rosary accompanied by music groups.

The municipality of Villa de Ingenio celebrates their Patron Saint festivities of La Candelaria and San Blas 23 Jan – 3 Feb, 2020. “Las fiestas en honor a Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria y San Blas”

Festivities starts on Thursday, January 23 with the proclamation and a concert by soloist Pedro Manuel Afonso. The program also includes romeria; a pilgrimage offering, cattle fair, concerts, tastings, verbenas, children’s entertainment, taifa dance and craft market, among other acts.

Benito Pérez Galdós was a Spanish realist novelist. He was the leading literary figure in 19th-century Spain, and some scholars consider him second only to Cervantes in stature as a Spanish novelist. Born on May 10, 1843 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and died January 4, 1920 in Madrid.

This well attended event in the tiny traditional mountain village above Valsequillo offers plenty to do and see including a traditional street market and traditional artisans, folkloric performances and Canarian music, tastings of various typical Canarian dishes and a range of indigenous game


Sunday, the main fiesta day ; The Route of the Almond Blossom.

One of the most traditional celebrations in the Canary Islands throughout the rural municipality located in the east-north-eastern mountain sides of Gran Canaria, about 20 minutes drive up from Telde, or a half hour bus ride. The events usually run from 10:00-16:00 in the main town and many surrounding villages.

During the weekend Valsequillo quadruples its population on a route in with folkloric groups, craft and gastronomy stands . The route takes place simultaneously in the neighborhoods of La Barrera, El Casco, Las Vegas and Tenteniguada, where one can enjoy agricultural markets, tastings, taifa dance, folklore, performances and much more.

The 10th edition of Mogán classic rally will depart and finish at Paseo de Los Marrero in Puerto de Mogán. X Clásica de Mogán is a regularity event for historic vehicles ( 25 years old and more ) and first scoring round of the regional championship of the XVII Canarias Islands Classic 2020 and of the XIV Classic Cup Gran Canaria 2020 .

The 2020 edition, as usual, will present a totally linear route, taking place in two sections separated by a long stop at Artenara for lunch. It will have a first section that will take place between 12:00 and 14:15, covering 62,976 km, divided into five sections of regularity.

The second part of the itinerary comprises another eight sections with a total of 124.264 km that will complete the 187+ km. total, of which 161.751 km are regular (86%), which will start at 15:45 to arrive at 18:30 again at the port of Mogán for a toast to the drivers. At 19:45 the trophies will be handed out, both from the Clásico de Mogán and the Gran Canaria Classic Cup and from the Canary Islands 2019 Classic.

The Cordial Mogán Valle Hotel and the Paseo de los Marrero in Puerto de Mogán will be the official headquarters, departure point and final arrival of the classic, which will take place between 10:00  with the beginning of the verifications and end at 19:45  with the delivery of trophies.
