‘Feria Internacional del Mar’, The International Fair of the Sea, FIMAR, the most important event of the blue economy in the Canary Islands, resumes its celebration, after having been cancelled in 2020 due to the global pandemic. The event once again sets the course and changes its scenario to adapt to health security measures. The fair will take place 2-4 July 2021 at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria sports pier, Marina Las Palmas, with 30 exhibition tents and visitors will be required to make a prior registration and the fair will have limited capacity.

FIMAR, which celebrates its first decade as the main showcase of the blue economy in the Canary Islands, becomes the first large open-air fair to be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since the beginning of the pandemic.

The event will maintain its professional, informative, commercial and leisure activity adapted to the new health reality, open to the public and with the participation of the different sectors associated with the economy of the Sea: nautical, science, research and training, tourism, employment, municipalities coastal areas, in addition to the Federations and Associations of companies and groups linked to the port and maritime sectors.

In addition, you can visit the fair alone or include in your ticket a visit to the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, which will have a program of family activities.
Las Alcaravaneras beach will host family and nautical activities whose registration will be done in order of arrival.

FIMAR will also be special in its tenth edition, because it will coincide with the visit at the sports pier of the capital of the 6 imposing and beautiful Ocean Fifty trimarans (15’24 long x 15’24 meters wide) that participate in the Prosailing Tour 2021, the new official circuit of this class of competition sailing, which has already held its first two stages in the French cities of Brest and La Rochelle. The regattas in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the only Spanish venue for this sailing championship, will be from June 30 to July 4.

The International Sea Fair will be held outdoors in the parking space next to the Alcaravaneras beach of the marina. A space that will combine the maritime and terrestrial exhibition and the realisation of complementary activities for the visitors. There will be talks, professional meetings and technical conferences in the confluence space of the Prosailing Tour; a gastronomic area with food trucks, nautical activities for children on Las Alcaravaneras beach and family science activities related to the sea, at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, in Santa Catalina Park.

The regional reference event for the nautical and marine-maritime sector of the Canary Islands will once again focus its objectives on the commercial offer of suppliers linked to the marine environment and offers entrepreneurs and citizens a specialised event to promote and stimulate the blue economy; as well as promoting the environmental, social and economic importance of the marine environment for the Canary Islands.
