The capital will celebrate the most magical holidays of the year under the motto ‘A Christmas Story’, in tribute to the 180th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ publication “A Christmas Carol”.\nThe Christmas lighting of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this year has a total of 1.5 million lights with low-consumption LED technology that illuminate the streets of the five districts of the city along with more than half a thousand decorations. The use of low-consumption technology, which contributes to sustainability and care for the environment in terms of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, allows energy consumption to be reduced by 77% compared to conventional light sources.\nThe commercial areas and neighborhoods of the five districts once again have more than 600 decorations that enhance their commercial activity, restaurants and tourism during these dates in the commercial areas of the city and in the neighborhoods, among other points.\nA conical fir tree 9 meters high and 4 meters in diameter presides over the Plaza de Santa Ana, which during Christmas dresses up to host the different Christmas events organized by the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council. The structure has 10 snowballs and 252 meters of red and white cord.\nThe façade of the Town Halls has been dressed with 230 meters of white LED lighting, in addition to 40 light curtains.
