DESCRIPTION:\nThe African Carnival brings ten magnificent days of celebration to Villa de Ingenio\nFrom galas and competitions to parades and children’s events, taking place from 8-18 February 2024, mainly under the tent of La Plaza de La Candelaria\n \nThursday 8 February: The official opening will take place at 20:30, at the Federico García Lorca Cultural Center in Ingenio with a tribute to José Antonio Sánchez Santana and José Estupiñán Hernández, preceded by the opening of the “Africarnaval” exhibition of the ARTIS Collective.\nFriday 9 February: the La Candelaria tent will be filled with colour and joy with the VII Drag Gala starting at 21:00.\nPresented by Roberto Herrera, the gala promises to dazzle with the most transgressive fantasies and choreographies, accompanied by the rhythm of the Comparsa Aragüimé, the Ballet Sensación Show, Dácil Suárez and Pedro Daktari. The evening will conclude with the concert of the group K’Arma.\nSaturday 10 February: The White Night will be celebrated, starting at 21:30 under the tent, entertained by the Parranda Pa’Ingenio and Tata Band.\nThe 11th and 12th of February will give way to the IX Villa De Ingenio Murgas Contest – “Sin Ton Ni Son” starting at 20:30.\nTuesday 13 February: Doña Sardina will be unveiled, starting at 21:00, during the ‘ Widows’ Night’, with the music and rhythm of Paco Guedes to cope in the best possible way with the loss of the deceased.\nWednesday 14 February: The main event will be held, maintaining tradition, on Ash Wednesday.\nThe 56th Burial of the Sardine and subsequent burning will arrive loaded with floats and allegorical groups, highlighting the batucadas, comparsas, music bands, local murgas and the winning murgas of the IX Ingenio Murgas Contest.\nThe concentration of the floats will be at C/ Alcalde Antonio Hernández Rodríguez, giving way later to the route along Avda. de Valencia, C/ León y Castillo, C/ Francisco Pérez Ramírez, C/ José Suárez Martín, C/ Dr. Juan Espino Sánchez, C/ Juan XXIII, ending at C/ Dr. David Ramírez.\nAs a novelty, this year the Costume Contest will be held during the parade, with the jury located in the El Ejido area which will choose the prize for the best unitary costume (€50), the prize for the best couple (€90) and the to the best group, made up of at least 5 people (€150). The rules will be published on the social networks (Facebook and Instagram) of the Ingenio Carnival Board. The night will culminate with music from the Orquesta La Mekánica by Tamarindos and Línea DJ.\nFriday 16 February: the “100% Ingenio” Young People’s Night. DJ’s Airam Vega and Alejo Sánchez will be at Plaza de La Candelaria from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.\nSaturday 17 February: Music will also be the main protagonist of the VI Day Carnival. From 13:00 to 20:00 there will be the participation of DJ Ulises Acosta, Maldita EGB, Señor Natilla and Count Back.\nFinally, the events will close on\nSunday the 18th with the Children’s Carnival in the Plaza de la Candelaria from 11:00-14:00.
