DESCRIPTION:\nGáldar lights up Gran Canaria for Christmas. The municipality of Gáldar kicked off Christmas on 29 November with a great audiovisual show that amazed the thousands of people who came to the streets of its historic centre. \nMore than 25,000 metres throughout the city and 4,200 on Capitán Quesada Street light up Gáldar. The city’s main street has smart lighting, a technology that is being used for the first time in the Canary Islands in a public space and which will show audiovisual shows every Christmas night from 18:30 to 22:00.\nIn addition, the streets of the historic centre and their entrances have numerous photocalls, trees and an endless number of Christmas motifs, which will also be present in all the neighbourhoods of the city in the coming days. On Friday 29 November, in addition, the Municipal Nativity Scene in the Town Hall, the ice rink next to the Juan Vega Mateos Sports Centre, and the royal mailbox of Their Majesties the Three Wise Men in front of La Recova have already opened their doors, highly anticipated events for the whole family. A Christmas that will have the culmination of saying goodbye to 2024 and welcoming 2025 with the chimes of Radio Televisión Canaria, for the first time in history, from the Temple Santuario de Santiago.\nHighlights:\nThe 26th Flower Week, a floral and artistic exhibition that fills Calle Capitán Quesada and the area around Plaza de Santiago with colour and beauty and has become one of the town’s biggest attractions at this time of year, will open on 11 December and remain open until 2 January.\non 20 December, Christmas Eve will take place, a day when, from 17:00 until dawn, events will be held simultaneously with parades, musical performances, children’s shows, concerts and free visits to museums, among many other offerings, in Plaza de Santiago, Calle Capitán Quesada, Plaza de Los Faycanes, the town’s museums, the Teatro Consistorial, the Templo Santuario de Santiago and the Casino.\nThe Christmas market will also be held again on Fernando Guanarteme Street, next to the Temple Sanctuary of Santiago, from Thursday 19 December to Sunday 5 January.\nThe ice rink is located again next to the Juan Vega Mateos Sports Centre. This space, together with the traditional Municipal Nativity Scene located in the Town Hall, the work of José Luis Tacoronte García, was inaugurated on Friday night, 29 November. The Municipal Nativity Scene is part of the Ángel Valencia Candelaria Nativity Scene Route, which includes fourteen others.\nDecember 22nd, the traditional toy collection in Plaza de Santiago.\nWeekends offer a wide range of cultural and festive activities in the city.
