SUMMARY:The 41st International Music Festival of the Canary Islands (FIMC)
DESCRIPTION:\nFor over four decades, practically all world music figures, many of them authentic legends, have passed through the Canary Islands. They have done so within the framework of the International Music Festival, which every winter, since January 11, 1985, turns the islands into the focus of classical creation.\nCANARY ISLANDS INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL between 10 January – 16 February 2025 \nCreative diversity in the history of music will return to the islands in early 2025. A work created in 2006 will ring out the first bars of the 41st Canary Islands International Music Festival (FIMC) on January 10. Five weeks and 61 concerts later, on February 16, the edition will conclude with a score from 1903. A time span of more than a century, but covering more than one hundred works from the 18th century to the present, more than a thousand musicians from around the world, prestigious soloists and conductors, subscription and extraordinary concerts, a Parallel Festival… And all of this on 21 stages across the eight islands, organized by the Canary Islands Government. \nIn January and February 2025, major orchestras such as the London Philharmonia, the Warsaw Symphony, the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Salzburg Camerata, the Munich Philharmonic and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande will be visiting the archipelago, in addition to the two host orchestras, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic and the Tenerife Symphony. Musical icons such as piano legend Grigory Sokolov and the Vienna Boys’ Choir will also be joining the archipelago, in an edition that will have a starring instrument: the violin, with figures such as Pinchas Zukerman, Hilary Hahn, Midori, Leonidas Kavakos, María Dueñas and Lisa Batiashvilli.\nSee the full program HERE!
