The 53rd Opera Season Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Feb 11 – Jun 20 all-day

The 53nd edition of the Opera season in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is composed of five operas of which three of them are from Verdi. The 2020 Season starts with Falstaff by Verdi in February, followed by  L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti in March, Aida by Verdi will be performed end of March – April and La Bohéme by Puccini in May and La Traviata by Verdi will close the 2020 opera season in June.

Gran Canaria has a historical tradition linked to the opera that was founded in those first merchants who stopped at the island on the way to America or returned to Europe after crossing the Atlantic. During their stops, these travellers began to crave the same entertainments they enjoyed on the continent, so Las Palmas de Gran Canaria began to program leisure activities such as classical music concerts, theatre plays & opera performances.

THE OPERA AS A DIFFERENTIATING ELEMENT

The opera season stands out for providing this popular destination with a multicultural connection between Gran Canaria with the world through its history, music, culture, and traditions. These representations have become an important tourist attraction for the island, since it allows our visitors to enjoy an original experience that differentiates it from other destinations.

Tickets are for sale from 20th of January 2020 from ACO office ( C/San francisco 6)  and  online – www.mgticket.com
