Christmas program Santa Lucía de Tirajana 22 November 2022 – 7 January 2023.

The Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council have organised fifty activities with the collaboration of the Ascoive Entrepreneurs Association to enjoy leisure at Christmas in the municipality and at the same time do their festive shopping.

Concerts from Gran Canaria Big Bad, Los Salvapantallas, kid Rock History, La Banda de los Piojillos, humour from Omayra Cazorla, Jaime Marrero, children’s parties, clowns, street parade, craft fair, special lights-on event, drive-in cinema and up to 50 activities will animate the open commercial area of Avenida de Canarias and different towns and neighbourhoods during the Christmas season.

Fiestas de La Milagrosa 2022 – Cruce de Arinaga, Agüimes

Cruce de Arinaga in the municipality of Agüimes is celebrating their traditional and family festivities of La Milagrosa between 22 November – 2 December 2022.
The neighbourhood will be filled with joy and devotion with musical performances, dances, folklore and children’s games, which will be combined with religious acts in honour of the Virgin. Among the scheduled acts, the performance of the timplist Benito Cabrera and the singer Cristina Ramos stands out, with their show called ‘Hacia la raíz’, a repertoire of songs from Canarian popular music on Friday, 27 November starting at 21:00 in the Plaza Primero de Mayo.

The other great event with folk music will be the Canarian Popular Song Festival, which will take place the following Friday, 2 December also on the stage of Plaza Primero de Mayo. The ‘Parranda Amigos Isleños’ from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will perform; ‘Los Goretes de Lourdes’, by Telde and ‘Tócamelo en re’, by Ingenio. They will be accompanied by three groups from the municipality of Agüimes: the ‘Agrupación Folklórica Texey’, the ‘Parranda Risco Verde’ and the ‘Taller Folklórico Llanos Prietos’.

For the younger public, on Sunday, 27 November from 16:00 the ‘Tarde Joven’ with DJ and K-pop sessions. You can also enjoy children’s activities, festivals, and Latin dances, with the event ‘Al son de la salsa’ as the highlight of the program. It will take place also on Sunday, 27 November, in the morning and afternoon, in the Plaza Primero de Mayo.

The festivities of La Milagrosa enjoy a long tradition in the Cruce de Arinaga and, in fact, they have been celebrated year after year in a family atmosphere with the only exception of 2020 due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. As for religious acts, the central act will be on Sunday, 27 November, when the Virgin of La Milagrosa goes out in procession accompanied by her faithful. At the end, the parish encourages the neighbours to mingle and to bring food and refreshments.



Christmas program Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2022-2023

The symbolic Christmas lights-on event at Plaza de Santa Ana in the heart of Vegueta, the original old quarter by the mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Augusto Hidalgo on Thursday, 24 November 2022 at 19:00. The Municipal Symphonic Band of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (BSMLPGC) will put the finishing touch to the event with a concert that will inaugurate the Christmas program that this year brings together more than 120 activities throughout the city.

The arrival of their Majesties from the East on 5 January 2023, will close a month and a half of activities that will start on Thursday 24 November in the epicentre of the founding neighbourhood where, in addition to the lighting of the first Christmas lights in the municipality and the nativity scene of the Town Hall, the work of Fernando Benítez.
Two days later, on Saturday, November 26, the BSMLPGC will perform again in Santa Ana with the family repertoire made up of Christmas themes and songs from well-known movies such as Harry Potter and The Jungle Book. Throughout the month of December, the plaza de Santa Ana will be the scene of other consolidated musical events in the Christmas program such as the performance of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (December 21), La Trova with its show “Trovamundo en Navidad” (22 December) and Los Gofiones (December 23).

Vegueta will also host another classic on the program, the Christmas Eve Concert by Olga Cerpa and Mestisay (December 24), which will once again be held in the Plaza del Pilar Nuevo. One of the novelties of the program, “Comic toy for a Christmas night” (January 3 and 4), will also take place in this location. It is a production produced by 2RC Teatro Compañía de Repertorio and directed by Rafael Rodríguez.

Kings Parade
Two of the most anticipated acts, the arrival of the Three Kings and the subsequent parade, will also return to normal. Christmas in Gáldar

Gáldar is enjoying their largest program in history and are celebrating lights-on event on Friday, 25 November 2022.
The main novelties this year are the Christmas market. ice rink, and the extension of the Flower Week. In addition, on December 31 the Holy Door of the Sanctuary of Los Caballeros will be closed after the second consecutive Jacobean Year and the chimes will be broadcast from Gáldar to the whole world through Spanish Television.


On Friday 25 November: In a massive act held in the Plaza de Los Faycanes, Teodoro Sosa will light up Christmas at 19:00. The artist Omayra Cazorla will lead the event, and is enlivened by the Rainbow Gospel Choir, children’s Christmas carols and a parade. Likewise, the municipal nativity scene will be presented, located in the Town Hall and carried out for another year by José Luis Tacoronte and María González.

This is a Christmas in which Gáldar offers a greater supply of car parks, more than 500 spaces, after the inauguration last July of the Las Guayarminas car park.

The Gáldar Christmas market will be located on calle Fernando Guanarteme, next to the Sanctuary of Santiago, and will remain open from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 20:30, on Fridays and Saturdays and on the eve of holidays from 10:00 to 00:00 and on Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 22:00.

The ice rink will be located on the field attached to the Juan Vega Mateos Sports Center from December 16 to January 5.

The Flower Week, an amazing attraction will start on December 10 and will remain on cale Capitán Quesada and the surroundings of Plaza de Santiago until January 4, so the processions and parades typical of those dates will have alternative routes.

The Gáldar Christmas program of 2022-23 will feature, for the first time in its history, a Christmas market.

There will be ten wooden booths that will be located on Calle Fernando Guanarteme from November 25 to January 5, both included, for the sale of all kinds of products related to Christmas. That is, gifts, accessories, complements, decoration, fashion, personal care products, craft products, pictures and toys, among others.

Operation Kilo Gran Canaria

Operation Kilo 

The Food Banks of Spain are holding the next edition of Operation Kilo: Friday, November 25; Saturday, November 26 and Sunday, November 27, in SPAR supermarkets with donation of food items.

Other shops such as Carrefour, Lidl, Hiperdino, Makro, Unide, Corte Inglés and Mercadona will be collecting money donations at the cashier between November 28 and December 6.

Operation Kilo, is the primary food drive initiative, organised by the Food Bank of Spain and in collaboration with Las Palmas Food Bank and a wide range of local organisations in solidarity with those most in need around the island.  Volunteers will be prominent in shopping centres and supermarkets this coming Friday and Saturday around Gran Canaria as well as on Sunday in many areas that have shops open, such as Mogán, Puerto Rico and Arguineguín .

The campaign focuses on collecting as many basic foods as possible from multiple shoppers at supermarkets over the next two days. The food donated by anyone who cares to help is collected thanks to the help of a group of volunteers (still more needed in the south!!) and the collaboration of the various supermarkets. Once the food has been collected, it is sent to the main Las Palmas Food Bank warehouse, from where it is distributed to people in need through several charitable associations, such as The Food Project in Arguineguín.

Municipal Market of Santa Brigida

The Weekend Market of Santa Brigida, ‘El Mercado Agrícola y Artesanal’ in the northeastern inland part of the island, celebrated its 35rd anniversary in summer 2021. Varieties of cheese, country bread, jams and marmalades, natural produced honey and a variety of confectionery.

“This beautiful old town was where the British aristocrats and merchants of the 18th and 19th century first came to visit on health holidays, making it one of the first tourism destination on Gran Canaria. It is still home for many aristocracy families and their gorgeous country homes.”

At the Moment it is a very small market with about a dozens stall operating. Just next to the market, there is a Wine museum “La Casa del Vino de Gran Canaria” which is worth visiting.

TP Challenger Tour Maspalomas 2022

Gran Canaria becomes one of the venues for the best professional tennis with the celebration of the ATP eó Hotels Maspalomas Challenger that will take place at the facilities of the Club Conde Jackson Tennis Maspalomas, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, from November 28 to December 4.

“Suena noviembre” – Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria’s biggest nativity sculpture, the 17th sand art Belén de Arena 2022-20223 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is scheduled to open at 16:00 on Friday, 2 December 2022. 

The 17th Belén de Arena in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria brings together the talent of 9 international sand sculptors. Sculptors from Ukraine, Russia, Spain, Canada, the United States, Latvia and Ireland will model the most iconic set of sculptures for Christmas in Gran Canaria.

The icon of Christmas in Gran Canaria, this year will dedicate its artistic proposal to youth and the future, with a special nod to peace. For the first time, there is a Ukrainian artist, Oleksiy Poda, who will share an artistic space with a Russian sand artist, Aleksei Schitov, already a regular at the Belén de Arena. Sue Mcgrew and Gresham Glover, from the United States; Karen Fralich and Guy Olivier, from Canada; Sanita Ravina, from Latvia; Fergus Mulvany, from Ireland and the Canary Islander, Bentejuí Ojeda, complete the artistic team of the 17th edition of this resource, unique for its singularity and monumentality.

One of the main seasonal attractions in the capital, and for the island, is open until January 9, 2023.


On Monday, 14 November 2022, the fencing, conditioning and moving the sand begin in the ​​La Puntilla area in front of the Plaza de Saulo Torón on Las Canteras beach.

The new municipal market is still enjoying its grand opening festivities ( December 22 ) and offers raffles and entertainment until the end of January 2022.

On Fridays, January 14, 21 and 28, for every 10 euros of purchase, visitors to the Mercado de Guía will be able to win a gift voucher worth 60 euros. The raffle will take place on Sundays 16, 23 and 30 of this month. 3 checks will be raffled each week, worth 60 euros each, to be exchanged at the Market stalls.

Likewise, the Market will host musical performances, children’s workshops, wine and cheese tastings, etc. on Saturdays and Sundays. Activities all aimed at a family audience that make this visit an even more complete and attractive experience, as well as making it possible to buy the best local products.


December 22 was a historic day for #SantaMaríaDeGuía when the #MercadoDeGuía was inaugurated at 11:00. This new marketplace will be a great support for the primary sector and an additional attraction for visitors to the North of Gran Canaria.

Mercado de Guía, the new municipal market place has for its opening the first 30 stalls for the direct sale of fruits and vegetables, cheese, meat, fish, gourmet products, prepared meals, flowers and jams among others. A cafeteria and restaurant will also open on the first floor.


Starting from 9 January 2022, the marketplace will be open from Friday to Sunday 08:00-16:00 



The building, located in an old irrigation pond with ethnographic value. The new marketplace is distributed over 4 floors, a basement, used for cold rooms, and a semi-basement for 70 parking spaces and a loading and unloading area. On the first floor are the stalls for direct sales, cafeteria and restaurant. The second will be dedicated to the gastronomy market.

The Market building has a large metal roof that covers the building complex and supports the solar panels, both thermal and photovoltaic, resulting in a total constructed area of almost 8,000m².



Agricultural market Plaza de Playa de Arinaga

Farmers’ market in Plaza de Playa de Arinaga on Fridays 08:00-14:00, just in front of the church church Nuestra Señora del Pino – Arinaga. The municipality of Agüimes new Agricultural market, starting from Friday, July 2 for direct sales. San Mateo Weekend Market

The weekend market of Vega de San Mateo in the mountains is a popular place to visit by locals and visitors with its over 90 stalls.

Open from Friday to Sunday you can find a big market warehouse building as well as outside stalls and occasional music and dancing during summer. Local farmers selling a wide selection of seasonal vegetables, fruit but also cheese, wine and much more. Outside area offers stalls selling an interesting array of different products from handcrafts, clothes, bags among others.

The market and surrounding area is undergoing major renovations and improvements. The opening of an underground parking on la Plaza del Mercado – Los Gofiones ( just after the small bus station ) has improved the traffic and parking on a busy day like a market day.

“This beautiful old town was where the British aristocrats and merchants of the 18th and 19th century first came to visit on health holidays, making it one of the first tourism destination on Gran Canaria. It is still home for many aristocracy families and their gorgeous country homes.”

At the Moment it is a very small market with about a dozens stall operating. Just next to the market, there is a Wine museum “La Casa del Vino de Gran Canaria” which is worth visiting.

Christmas Market by Hotel Maritim Playa 2022

The 12th traditional and popular Weihnachtsmarkt; Christmas market, Mercado de Navidad at the hotel Maritim Playa, in Playa del Inglés. The Christmas Market opens at 16:00.

Christmas spirit and decorations, Canarian and German artisans, Glühwein, baked goods, music performances and much more, even a visit from Papa Noel.


Christmas Market – Agüimes

The Christmas market ‘Mercado Navideño’ of Agüimes is held in the historic centre between 2-4 December 2022. Some 20 stalls for local commerce, agricultural foods, books and crafts will be set up in Plaza del Rosario.

Opening Hours:
On Friday from 17:00 to 21:30
On Saturday from 10:00 to 21:30
On Sunday from 10:00 to 15:00

In addition to the surroundings of the Plaza del Rosario, the Agüimes Christmas market will have activities for all audiences in the surroundings of the Church of San Sebastián, in the Plaza Orlando Hernández, the alley of Los Camellos, the alley of Los Enamorados and in the surroundings of Plaza San Antón. There will be concerts, theater, Christmas stories, puppets, crafts, balloon twisting and, as the star attraction, a mini tourist train in which the local and visiting public will be able to explore the streets of the old town in a fun way.
