Gran Canaria’s biggest nativity sculpture, the 17th sand art Belén de Arena 2022-20223 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is scheduled to open at 16:00 on Friday, 2 December 2022.
The 17th Belén de Arena in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria brings together the talent of 9 international sand sculptors. Sculptors from Ukraine, Russia, Spain, Canada, the United States, Latvia and Ireland will model the most iconic set of sculptures for Christmas in Gran Canaria.
The icon of Christmas in Gran Canaria, this year will dedicate its artistic proposal to youth and the future, with a special nod to peace. For the first time, there is a Ukrainian artist, Oleksiy Poda, who will share an artistic space with a Russian sand artist, Aleksei Schitov, already a regular at the Belén de Arena. Sue Mcgrew and Gresham Glover, from the United States; Karen Fralich and Guy Olivier, from Canada; Sanita Ravina, from Latvia; Fergus Mulvany, from Ireland and the Canary Islander, Bentejuí Ojeda, complete the artistic team of the 17th edition of this resource, unique for its singularity and monumentality.

10:00-22:00 every day, except 24 and 31 December and 5 January, the closing time is 20:00
One of the main seasonal attractions in the capital, and for the island, is open until January 9, 2023.
On Monday, 14 November 2022, the fencing, conditioning and moving the sand begin in the La Puntilla area in front of the Plaza de Saulo Torón on Las Canteras beach.
The area will occupy 2800 square meters and will be delimited for the safety of bathers and beach users, and to facilitate the machinery work. The first step will be to accumulate the sand that the sculptors will turn into a unique walk for Christmas.
