Cultural Concerts in Churches – LPA
“Cultural Concerts” to enjoy in the churches of the Isleta-Puerto-Guanarteme District in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The performances, which have the collaboration of the Real Club Victoria, the Casa de Galicia, and the Diocese of the Canary Islands, will be held in the district’s churches between March 27 and April 11.
The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council organises ‘Cultural Concerts’, an initiative of the Isleta-Puerto-Guanarteme District that brings music to the interior of the churches of the district’s neighborhoods on the occasion of Holy Lent. For this second edition, a guided historical-artistic tour of the Church of San José del Puerto is included with Juan José Laforet, official chronicler of the city.
The program begins next Thursday, March 27, with the aforementioned guided tour of the Church of San José, the former church of the Franciscan Fathers. The event will take place at the intersection of Padre Cueto and 29 de Abril Streets, near the San José Clinic, at 6:00 PM.
On Friday, March 28th, the Teror Music Band will perform at the Parish of Nuestra Señora del Pilar, in the Guanarteme neighbourhood, at 20:00.
On Sunday, March 30th, the Las Palmas Music Band will perform at the Parish of San Pablo Apóstol (52, 29 de Abril Street) at 19:30.
On Tuesday, April 1st, at 18:00, the sacred music recital organized by the Municipal School of Music Education will begin in the Church of San José del Puerto.
On Thursday, April 3, the organ and song recital “Canticum Novum: A Musical Journey Through Time” will be held at the parish of Santísimo Cristo Crucificado in Guanarteme at 19:30. This performance will be repeated the following day at 20:00 in the church of Santa María del Pino in Puerto-Mesa y López.
The “Cultural Concerts” will continue on Saturday, April 5, with the Gáldar Music Band at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Parish in La Isleta at 19:00.
On Sunday, April 6, the Firgas Youth Music Band will perform at the Nuestra Señora de la Luz Parish in Puerto-La Isleta at 20:00.
The Casa de Galicia Choir will offer a recital on Tuesday, April 8, at the Santa María del Pino Parish at 20:00. The initiative will close its second edition with a concert by the Cantata Choir of the Real Club Victoria in the Nuestra Señora de la Luz Church at 20:00 on Friday 11 April.
