
Fiestas de La Naval 2025 – La Isleta, LPA
In La Isleta, celebrations are held every October to honour ‘Our Lady of La Luz’, (Ntra. Sra. de La Luz) patron of the Port and protector of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The festivities commemorate the island’s victory over the ill-fated attack by the British pirates Francis Drake and John Hawkins in October 1595. The festivities are celebrated this year between 27 September – 20 October 2025Â
The festivities debut new large-scale models for the historical-pyrotechnic spectacle of the Naval Battle for the defense of La Luz Castle, which will take place on October 11.

Saturday 27 September:
18:00 Inauguration of the new facade of the temple.
Thursday 2 October:Â
18:30 parade announcing the festivities, departing from Santa Catalina Park with a marching band that will tour the streets in a tourist bus. 19:30 Raising the Virgin’s flag at the church.
20:00 PregĂłn, the opening speech in the Gardens of La Luz Castle, which will feature a twinning ceremony between El ChapuzĂłn de La Naval and El Perro Maldito de Valsequillo, as well as the presentation of awards and recognitions.
21:00 concert by the municipal band in the gardens.
21:30 Fireworks spectacle for the festivities to commence.

After the flyer is shot by the mayor, and the ââChapuzoneros al aguaââ is shouted, the night dip to the ocean will begin, with the grand fireworks spectacle from La Puntilla.

A commemoration of the Naval Battle that took place in 1595 in the city, which was defended from the Castle of La Luz by the artillery and residents of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
18:30 Transfer of the symbolic flame.
Transfer of the Flame that gave rise to the name La Luz, from the old parish boundary (Old Campo España) to the parent parish. The transfer will be carried out by the 94th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment, along the following route:
Av. MarĂtima Avenue in front of the old Campo de España, to the Church of La Luz.
20:00 the procession of the venerated image of Our Lady of La Luz.
22:30 Batalla Naval – Calle AgustĂn Millares Sall.
The reenactment of the battle between Sir Francis Drake’s ship and the Castillo de La Luz, using a fireworks display, with models courtesy of the Isleta-Puerto-Guanarteme District. A performance by the Association for the Historical-Cultural Recreation of the Canary Islands Militias of the 15th and 16th Centuries will participate in the event.
23:00 The day will conclude with a street party by La MekĂĄnica by Tamarindos at Plaza de La Luz.
Sunday 12 October:
12:00 Foam Party and children’s games at Plaza de La Luz.
20:00 Night of Variety with a performance by the Ballet SensaciĂłn and drag queens.

10:00 Market of Canarian products in Parque Santa Catalina.
22:00 Night of Parradas will be celebrated around Calle Tenerife, Sagasta, and Gofiones, and the Port Market area. (Canarian music and dancing).
23:00 lively ‘parrandera’ street party at Plaza La Luz.

12:00 Octava de La Naval festival will be celebrated with the 13th Folklore Festival in Nuestra Señora de La Luz Square. Performances include AFC Buchito de Café, AF Volcån de San Juan, and CB Danzar de Los Alisios, the latter two groups from La Palma.
18:00 Civil and military procession of the image of Our Lady of La Luz will take place.
The musical portion will be provided by the Ibaradem Group.
During the procession, a spectacular fireworks display will be set off in Plaza de La Puntilla.
Upon arrival, the final fireworks display will be held.
