The Temisas neighbourhood in the municipality of Agüimes is celebrating their patron saint festivities in honour of Saint Michael the Archangel starting on Monday, September 15th. The program will offer activities for all ages until October 11th, including religious, cultural, and sporting events.
Activities begin on Monday with the football tournament, which will take place on the sports field until September 26.
On September 19, in the Temisas plaza, Sergio Cubas Méndez will deliver the opening speech, officially kicking off the traditional events, followed by a toast with local products. The event will conclude with the Night of Parrandas, hosted by the bands La Polvajera and El Viejo Cafetín.
On Saturday, the 20th, the Romería (pilgrimage offering), one of the most anticipated events, will begin in Tarilla and conclude at the plaza, culminating in a street party in Los Olivos Park. The program also includes children’s activities, such as a foam and inflatable party on September 21st, a traditional dance for adults accompanied by a snack of churros and hot chocolate on September 25th, and a zanga, lotería, and dominoes tournament on September 23rd and 24th.
There will be no shortage of music with street parties in the square and park, featuring artists such as Paco Guedes, Hierba Mala, Pepe Benavente, and Grupo Arena. This year, a Hi-Fi Ladder will also be held, themed around “La Tele Canaria.” The main day will be September 29th, the feast of San Miguel Arcángel, which begins with the Diana Floreada (Flowered Diana) parade through the town streets and continues with the Eucharist, a procession, and a communal luncheon in Los Olivos Park. The day will conclude with the traditional livestock fair and the Solaje festival, culminating in a celebration that combines tradition, devotion, and joy.
