Fiestas del Beñesmén y San Bartolomé 2025 – Guayadeque, Agüimes
Guayadeque, one of Gran Canaria’s great historical and natural reserves, celebrates its neighbourhood festivities between 22-24 August 2025, traditionally dedicated to Beñesmén and San Bartolomé, in homage to both the ravine’s indigenous past and the patron saint whose image presides over the local chapel. In addition to connecting with the most ancient roots of this unique enclave, the celebration is one of the clearest examples of the syncretism that still persists in the Canary Islands.
The events will begin on Friday, August 22nd, at 21:30, with Pregón, the opening speech by Christian Martel López. At the end, around 22:00, the first street party of the festivities will begin, with entertainment by the Buena Onda group.
On Saturday the 23rd, at 18:30, Traída de la Leche, a traditional Milk Bringing procession will take place, following the local road to the Plaza Cueva Bermeja, accompanied by invited folk groups.
At 20:00 an exhibition of the Canarian whistle (silbo), and at 22:30 the big lively street party, Verbena starring Línea Latina and Azahara
On Sunday the 24th, at 11:00, the foam party will take place, a family event with a water castle that will delight children. In the afternoon, at 17:00, a livestock exhibition will take place just before the celebration of the Eucharist and the religious procession. The festivities will conclude at 20:00 with the last of the three scheduled Verbena, street party, livened up on this occasion by the Dúo Purpurina.
