
Fiestas Patronales Nuestra Señora de Candelaria 2025 – Villa de Moya
Villa de Moya is celebrating Patron Saint festivities in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria between 23 January – 9 February 2025. A celebration that combines religious events with recreational-cultural events designed by and for the whole family.
Highlights:
The festivities in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria kick off on Thursday, 23 January, with the inauguration of the painting exhibition Homenaje a Pino Moreno at the Casa de la Cultura (at 19:00) and the pottery exhibition with pieces by José Montesdeoca at the same location. An art that is mixed with the innovative proposal of Cine+Flute that comes from the hands of the Flute Ensemble of the Community Orchestra of Gran Canaria presenting a programme dedicated to music from film and musicals. A concert in a unique dimension will be held on Thursday, 30 January, at the Casa de la Cultura.
Saturday, 1 February:
The traditional pilgrimage from Fontanales to the town centre of Villa de Moya will be held on Saturday, February 1. A long-standing custom in which the neighbours join together in a different activity to pay homage to the patron saint in a relaxed atmosphere, thus strengthening neighbourhood ties. A pilgrimage that anticipates the most eagerly awaited day among the devotees of Our Lady of Candelaria, which is that on Sunday, February 2, the candle procession is celebrated. At 18:00, the onomastic begins and at its conclusion all the devotees will walk through the streets of the town centre with the candles on a day of fervour and devotion in Villa de Moya, accompanied by the Cumbres y Costas Musical Group.
On Sunday, February 9, the solemn function at 12:00 in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria and the procession will take place. From 15:00 traditional horse race
In addition to the activities already mentioned, there will be others such as the dance for seniors in the centre of San Judas Tadeo, which will be enlivened by the musical group Yoni y Aya, music in the street by DJ Aythami and Yet Garbey and Buena Vibra, or one of the star activities such as the Dos Orillas Festival by the poet Yeray Rodríguez together with international poets. In addition to children’s activities where they can enjoy bouncy castles and workshops in the street.
Days to enjoy the Villa de Moya in all its splendors, laughing in homage to the patron saint and sharing time with family and friends, filling the streets of the town with life.
