Fiestas Patronales Nuestra Señora de Candelaria 2026 – Villa de Moya

Villa de Moya is celebrating Patron Saint festivities in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria between 27 January and 8 February 2026.

The town of Moya pays homage to its patron saint, Our Lady of Candelaria, with a religious and civic-cultural program that will take place from the end of January to the beginning of February, consolidating these festivities as one of the most significant events for their religious, cultural and social value.

Highlights:

The civic and cultural program will begin on Tuesday, January 27th, with the opening of the exhibition “Traditional Canarian Clothing in the 18th Century: A Stroll Through the Municipalities of Gran Canaria up to 1851” at 18:30 in the House of Culture. Organized by the Dragos y Laurel Cultural Association of Canarian Ethnography and Dance, the exhibition offers a historical journey through traditional clothing, highlighting it as a key element of Canarian cultural heritage. This celebration of traditions is complemented by the musical-theatrical performance “History of a Romance,” presented by the Guadalupe Folkloric Group in collaboration with Dragos y Laurel. The performance is a musical journey through the loves of yesteryear and countless stories cherished in our hearts and never forgotten.

One tradition is the pilgrimage in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria, which takes place on Saturday, February 7th, weather permitting. The pilgrimage will depart from Fontanales at 09:30 and proceed to the town centre of Moya. Following this, there will be an afternoon of festivities in Pico Lomito Park with the ‘La Candelaria 2026 Concert‘, starting at 22:00, featuring ‘The Papas and The Mojo,’ DJ Aythami, and Una Más. The celebrations will conclude on Sunday, February 8th, with a solemn service in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria at 18:00, followed by a procession through the town center, accompanied by the Cumbres y Costas Musical Group.

These festivities reflect the welcoming spirit and cultural identity of the town of Moya in honor of Our Lady of Candelaria, so that everyone can enjoy them.
