Fontanales is celebrating their patron saint festivities in honour of San Bartolomé between 14-24 August 2025. Enjoy an exceptional natural and rural environment in the northern mountains of Gran Canaria.
Fontanales dresses up for the traditional festivities in honour of Saint Bartholomew. These days are intensely celebrated, with locals throwing themselves into the festivities from day one to day three, welcoming with open arms all the visitors who come to enjoy these special days.
Highlights:
Thursday 14 August:
21:00 The festivities kick off with the opening speech by Adolfo Reyes Navarro, an iconic resident who was responsible for the electricity supply to Fontanales and the mill, producing over 60,000 kg of “rollón” and “gofio” for the town.
Friday 15 August
11:00 the “Family Festival” in the football field with activities
at 19:00 the “Descent of La Rama” (Bajada de la Rama) procession from the Valle, accompanied by the Banda Isleña.
Saturday 16 August:
09:00-14:00 Gran Canaria Km.0 Fair on the esplanade of Fontanales school.
20:00 Night of music with Savie Nueva and Los 600, followed by a lively street party with Estrella Latina
Sunday 17 August:
09:00-14:00 Gran Canaria Km.0 Fair on the esplanade of Fontanales school.
Wednesday 20 August:
21:00 the potato contest, which gains popularity year after year. Last year, more than 200 kilos of French fries were made. Prizes are awarded to the heaviest potato and the one with the most sympathetic symbolism. (tasting of fries and eggs – €2)
Friday 22 August:
19:00 Romería, the traditional pilgrimage and floral and fruit offering to San Bartolomé, with the participation of all neighborhoods of the Parish with carts and folk groups. At the conclusion, the Taifa Dance is celebrated with the AF San Francisco de Asís of Casa de Aguilar, along with the Friends of the Isleños group from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Friends of Tejeda.
Saturday 23 August:
21:00 Solemn mass, followed by a traditional procession of los Romers with the image, accompanied by the ‘Cumbres y Costas’ group.
22:30 Verbena, a lively street party with DJ Promaster and Star Music orchestra
Sunday 24 August: Feast Day
To conclude the festivities, in the morning, the traditional livestock fair is held with tastings of local produce and cheese, as well as displays of crafts, traditional products, and folklore.

20:00 at the plaza, music by Punto Cubano with Yeray Rodríguez
22:00 The festivities culminate with the concert by Los Salvapantallas and Los Aseres.
