Fiestas San Francisco – Telde

The old neighbourhood of San Francisco, in Telde, is celebrating the traditional festivities in honour of Saint Francis, held from September 29th to October 4th, 2025. For six days, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a varied program of events that combines tradition, culture, music, and theater in a unique setting.

The opening speech will be given on Monday, September 29th at 20:00 with the reading of the proclamation by Antonio Santana Rivero, a figure closely linked to the neighbourhood and the municipality, who will officially open the celebrations.

On September 30th, starting at 20:00, a historical tour (in Spanish) of the neighbourhood’s streets will be held with Telde’s official chronicler, Antonio María Gonzalez Padrón. This is a well-established event during these festivities, offering the public the opportunity to delve into the memory and roots of one of Telde’s most emblematic locations.

Music will also play a leading role with the Jazz Francisco concert, scheduled for October 3 at 20:30, which will fill the square and the streets with rhythm and a festive atmosphere.

The festivities will culminate on October 4 with an original street theater performance by the Salsipuedes Cultural Association, which will stage performances featuring illustrious figures from the Canary Islands, bringing culture to the public space in a participatory and engaging way. The performances will begin at 20:30.

The San Francisco neighborhood is one of the most valuable historical sites in Telde and Gran Canaria. Recognised for the uniqueness of its urban layout and the preservation of its traditional stone houses, wooden balconies, and cobblestone streets, it is a true journey into the past.

It is home to the church that gives the area its name, as well as several corners that have witnessed centuries of history. Every year, this unique setting becomes the stage for festivities that not only keep traditions alive but also embrace contemporary culture, integrating events that bring music, art, and theater to all.
