SAN JUAN FESTIVITIES ON GRAN CANARIA – Fiestas San Juan, St. John’s Eve – 23 June 2024
It’s San Juan, one of the biggest celebration weekends on Gran Canaria, and throughout Spain, with various festivities for midsummers’ night combining a mixture of traditional fiestas, midnight dips in the sea, lots of music and various rituals, bonfires and fireworks.
Every municipality and neighbourhood is likely to have a public bonfire on Sunday and some will also allow citizens to have their own, and some will add firework spectacles into the mix. Monday, 24 June is a local bank holiday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: Commemoration of the Foundation of the City and a local bank holiday in Artenara, Arucas, Telde, and Valsequillo for the festivities of San Juan. This weekend offers so much besides San Juan, including Patron Saint festivities and a Romantic night in Tejeda
“Remember that San Juan festivities also mean fireworks on Sunday, so make sure your pets are safe inside and secure as they can be easily scared and try to escape any perceived danger. Keep an eye out for any animals panicking outdoors”
More San Juan events on Gran Canaria coming soon as the town halls publish them…
