
Fiestas San Lorenzo 2024 – Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
A wonderful time to visit this unique little population centre of San Lorenzo, in the municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as they are celebrating their Patron Saint’s festivities between 31 July – 15 August 2024.
San Lorenzo, a lovely little village just about 15 minutes from the capital, is a tranquil place that only gets busy on Sundays with their local farmers market just next to the church. Fiestas de San Lorenzo is most famous for its fireworks show, the ‘Fuegos de San Lorenzo’ declared a Festival of Tourism Interest of the Canary Islands by the Canarian government in June 2022, a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest.

Wednesday, 31 July:
21:30 These traditional festivities in the capital’s neighbourhood will begin, with the opening ceremony that in this edition will have the councillor Inmaculada Medina in charge of reading the proclamation. After the event, the musical show Quererte a Ti, Homenaje a Camilo Sesto, will take place, performed by Paco Arrojo and Roko.
Thursday 1 August:
at 12:00 the flag will be raised with the ringing of bells and the first fireworks display, followed by a parade of kites with the Banda Guiniguada. In the evening, at 21:30, the XXXI National Folklore Festival of Gran Canaria Island will be held.
Friday, 2 August:
at 22:00 Drag Queen Gala will take place, an event for inclusion and diversity that will be presented by the Canarian actress Yanely Hernández and Daniel Calero and will feature performances by Thania Gil and Drag La Tacones, winner of last year’s gala.
Saturday 3 August:
18:30 The XXXII Romería, pilgrimage offering to San Lorenzo, which will be followed by the celebration of the Canarian Night with performances by the Parranda Merita La Pena, Parranda La Polvajera and the Arena Group.
8 August:
21:30 Concert by La Trova
9-10 August night
01:00 The popular Grand Fireworks Show and Voladores Volcano
Saturday 10 August:
09:00 The 162nd Livestock Fair and Exhibition
11:30 the Solemn Religious Service will be held in honour of San Lorenzo, followed by the procession of the Patron Saint.
21:30 the Grand Gala of San Lorenzo, during which the distinctions of Mother Mayor will be awarded to Doña Teófila Sánchez González and of Favorite Son to Antonio José Ponce.
Afterward, tribute will be paid to all victims of wars in the world with the traditional lighting of candles.

As for the many religious events that have been scheduled, the Novena to San Lorenzo stands out, which will begin on August 1 with the raising of the flag and the ringing of bells at noon. The liturgical events will continue with various masses and religious activities until August 10, the date of the Patron Saint’s feast day.
The tribute in honour of the Virgin of Buen Suceso, co-patron of the festivities, will take place from August 12 to 15, culminating with the Solemn Religious Function and the procession of the venerated image of the Blessed Virgin.
In addition to all these activities, the town of San Lorenzo will celebrate bell ringing and fireworks displays from August 1 to 9, at 12:00, and also in the morning hours from August 2 to 8, at 08:00.
