The new road map covers familiar stretches in the southeast, the summit of Gran Canaria, and the village of Tunte. These three sections with three different triple-pass stages add up to 86.15 timed km of the total 349.15 km route, which accounts for almost 25% of the route.
The entire rally operation will be centered near Expo-Meloneras, where the rally office, vehicle scrutineering (Friday, 14:00 to 19:00), and the service/regrouping park will be located. The start ceremonies (20:00) on Friday and the finish/trophy presentation ceremony (21:40) will take place in the nearby Plaza del Faro in Maspalomas.
Following the pre-rally and the start ceremony on the evening of Friday, October 31, the Saturday competition begins at 08:30 and concludes with the final finish at the Lighthouse at 21:00. The trophy presentation ceremony will then follow. In addition to the nine special stages, the rally caravan will pass through Meloneras twice for technical assistance, starting at 12:05 and 16:25 on Saturday.
The historic Maspalomas rally is expected to boast a large field of entries as the closing event of the CCRA and most of the rally championships, where several titles are sure to be decided. To this end, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana-based team offers a simple yet selective route. Participating teams can outdo each other on each pass through the timed sections, ensuring the excitement of the various disputes extends to the final finish.
