The Vega de San Mateo Market Square will host the first edition of the ‘Potaje Fest’ San Mateo on Saturday, 27 December 2025. This is a new gastronomic event created to showcase traditional Canarian cuisine and local products.
The event will take place between 10:30 and 15:00 and will feature a program combining tastings, live cooking demonstrations, folk music, and food samplings, making it a meeting point for locals and visitors alike.
The program will begin at 10:30 with a wine and cheese pairing tasting from San Mateo, led by David Ghosn. Throughout the morning, several culinary demonstrations will be given by renowned establishments from the municipality and the surrounding area:
-11:30 La Catedral Bistró, with a dish based on black pig
-12:30 El Zarcillo, with the preparation of a wild mustard stew
-13:30 La Pasadilla, with the preparation of a Canarian stew
at 14:00 a musical performance by the Parranda La Arrancadilla and a large stew tasting, bringing to a close a morning dedicated to gastronomy and local tradition.
With this first edition, the Potaje Fest San Mateo is presented as an initiative that champions local produce, traditional cuisine, and the revitalization of the area around the Farmers’ Market, a regular fixture on the municipality’s events calendar.
