Travesía a Nado de Arinaga – swimming competition
Travesía a Nado de Arinaga, the Arinaga Swimming crossing competition, one of the classic events on the open water swimming calendar on the island of Gran Canaria will take place on Sunday, 1 September 2024. It will once again be held over two distances, each suited to different physical conditions: a long distance of 3,000 meters for longer swimmers and a 1,500-meter one for faster swimmers who are less accustomed to endurance events. Registration can be done from Wednesday, July 3, until 12:00 noon on August 26 on the website aguimes.es/travesia .
Both distances are open to the participation of any athlete over 18 years of age, both members and amateurs without a federation license. There will also be shorter distances of 500, 300 and 200 metres for less experienced swimmers in the popular, children’s, alevín, benjamín, and mini categories. Registration prices range from 2.50 euros for mini, benjamín and alevín swimmers and 15 euros for participants in the 3,000-metre distance. The start of the different modalities will take place in the Los Barquillos area of Avenida de Los Pescadores between 11:30 and 13:02 on 1 September.
Of the 400 places offered, 85 are for the 3,000-metre distance, 200 for the 1,500-metre distance and 115 for the lower distances in the popular and age categories. Race numbers will be collected exclusively at the Terrero Municipal de Lucha de Arinaga on Thursday 29 August, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday 30 August, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The competition regulations are available for consultation on the same registration website aguimes.es/travesia .
The Arinaga Swimming Crossing is part of the program of sporting activities organised for the Virgen del Pino festivities in this town. The event will once again become one of the most attractive and popular events of the summer in the bay of Arinaga.
